'Unknown' products in Product Analytics reports

If you are seeing a lot of products fall under the 'Unknown' category in the Product analytics reports in Reaktion, please check the info in this article to mitigate this issue.


Our Product matching explained:

Our Product Identity matching is matching items based on Barcodes. We also support Product matching based on SKU. Email us on [email protected] to enable SKU based matching.


Product matching data requirements:

Ensure all your items have valid Barcodes or SKU numbers (inform us if we should match based on SKU numbers). It is especially important to avoid assigning the same Barcode or SKU to unrelated Products.


What is causing “Unknown products”?

Unknown products are caused by loose order items. Loose order items are not connected to any product from the catalog. Loose items can be created in multiple ways:


  • Manually creating an order with a custom item,

  • API integration or some other mechanism creating an order with a custom item,

  • Deleted / archived product variant.


What is causing small data discrepancies?

Shopify incorporates refunds in Product reports using refund date, while we only support order date.
