Is Reaktion compatible and compliant with Google's "Consent Mode V2"?
Yes. Reaktion is compatible and compliant with Cookie Consent V2. You dont need to do anything further in Reaktion. We will automatically use the consent status set by your CMP on "ad_user_data" and "ad_personalization".
We automatically check if any consent status has been set by a third party CMP (Consent Management Platform such as ex. Cookiebot etc.) in the GTM data layer.
Shopify only:
If no consent has been set by a 3rd party CMP solution then we check the consent status via the Shopify Privacy API. If a consent status has been set in Shopify Privacy API, then we set this consent status in the GTM data layer.
What is "Consent Mode V2"?
Google Consent Mode v2 features two key settings related to ads and personalization:
- ad_user_data:
The ad_user_data setting determines whether personal data is sent to Google based on user consent. “Google” in this context refers to services like Google Ads, Google Shopping, and Google Play.
ad_user_data can have two values, depending on whether a user gives consent: “granted” or “denied.”
- ad_personalization:
The ad_personalization setting controls whether personal data can be used for purposes such as remarketing.
Similar to ad_user_data, ad_personalization has two possible values based on user consent: “granted” or “denied.”
Requirements for you as a ecommerce merchant:
To use Google Consent Mode v2, you need to have a cookie banner in place. This means you need to have, or get, a consent management platform (CMP) running that is in line with Google’s standard as well as the GDPR and the e-privacy directive.
Google Consent Mode v2 ‘runs’ through the CMP, meaning it receives the signals from whether a user has given consent or not via the banner.
